Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum is recruiting a Chief Executive to join the team.
Part time (4 days per week, flexible days)
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the enthusiasm to enable and support Cornwall’s voluntary and community sector organisations to ensure that the voice of the sector is represented and listened to at all levels.
The key role of the Chief Executive is to be the principal figure and driving force responsible for the management, administration and implementation of Cornwall VSF’s infrastructure and for ensuring the organisation achieves its goals of enabling the sector through advocacy, brokerage and communication. The Chief Executive provides strategic vision, leadership and management to the operations of Cornwall VSF; this is an exciting opportunity for someone who has the enthusiasm and skills to enable and support the sector, in collaboration with statutory bodies across the County.
You will be responsible for the smooth running of day-to-day operations in line with our charitable objectives and schemes of delegation, while at the same time providing strategic direction and leadership. Your work will include strategic planning and delivery, financial planning and budgeting, fundraising and staff management. Working closely with our Board, you will act as lead adviser and ensure the Board receives advice, recommendations and information in an effective and timely manner. You will ensure good working relationships internally, between staff and Trustees and externally with VCSE partners and our stakeholders.
In our new Chief Executive, we are seeking an inspirational leader and role model for the organisation and the sector as a whole. You will show good judgement, lead people by example, delegate effectively, develop all contractors and staff to their full potential and make a central contribution to the overall effectiveness of the sector. You will also be a proactive ambassador, advocate and profile-raiser for Cornwall VSF and be able to prioritise the conflicting demands of a range of stakeholders. Your skills will also allow you to work at a strategic level both to develop funding opportunities and shape policy that affects Cornwall. You should have experience at a senior level along with commercial awareness and a good understanding of the not-for-profit sector. You will be a strong negotiator capable of presenting to various audiences; we are seeking someone who is creative, highly motivated, results-driven and passionate about supporting the sector to deliver the best possible outcomes for Cornwall.
