Portheden provides crisis cafes and community support and facilitates the development of these wherever they are needed under the heading of mental health harm reduction. This means that we will do what we can within the knowledge of what works.
Our approach is founded upon the reduction of suicides and the prevention, response and support of mental health crises. We believe that with support we all have crisis management and reduction skills and that we need to promote and share these in order to reduce self harm and suicides and meet the need we know exists.
We run surgery days to support GPs, provide training and education, groups for younger people in between CAMHS and adult services and groups for adults too. We support business in meeting mental health needs and initiate, co-ordinate and facilitate community events and innovation.
We have years of professional and peer experience able to operate at all levels in very many contexts. Individually we are both peer led and professionally qualified. Leaders have significant lived experience and also registered in social work and teaching. We have professional registration with the Health and Care Professions Council shaping our service and educationally we operate from entry level to masters level CPD.
