The du Maurier Festival Society presents the Fowey Festival in mid May every year. The aim is to draw on Fowey’s unique association with the renowned author, Daphne du Maurier to provide a varied programme of artistic merit capable of retaining existing audiences as well as attracting new festival goers.
It also attracts festival goers into the town to enjoy the many facilities available to visitors to Fowey.
Achieving high standards of artist integrity is central to the continuing success of the festival. The goals, therefore, are to present a programme that is:
- Broad and balanced in scope, combining experimental and innovative elements with traditional features sufficient to interest and excite existing and new audiences.
- Diverse in nature, bringing together literary specialists, acclaimed authors, poets, playwrights, actors, musicians, composers, new writers and entertainers, local writers, performers and players that provide a rich diet for festival goers.
- Varied in style, giving presenters and performers a choice in how they engage with audiences for example through presentations, interviews, talks, film, theatre, music, workshops, readings, recitals and discussion groups.
