Being stuck at home can be tedious, and one of the pieces of advice that’s been doing the rounds is to create highlight events in your calendar, like a ‘date night’, even with yourself. There are many exciting performances that have been made available online that would be a special treat, or out of reach under normal circumstances, such as the opera, or ballet, or concerts by famous names, which could make a great ‘special occasion’ for a Saturday night at home.
Suggestions for where to find these gems include:
WhatsOnStage which has a daily-updated list of stage shows, musicals and opera you can watch online now for free.
The Royal Shakespeare Company, which has ‘At Home with Shakespeare’, a long list of all their shows and other features which are available online.
The Royal Opera House, with a list of ballet and opera performances and behind-the-scenes documentaries, many of which are free to watch.
Sadler’s Wells Theatre, again with online performances, films and workshops.
The South Bank Centre, with a new online season of performances streaming direct from their venues.
Classic FM‘s list of classical concerts and opera being live streamed, with a specific page for Christmas performances.
