The Economic and Social Research Council is running an evening workshop aimed at healthcare professionals working with non-verbal communicators, entitaled ‘Tuning into music: Improving healthcare for postverbal people’

This event brings together health care workers from Plymouth and Cornwall. The hosts will introduce music as a means to improve health care for people who struggle to communicate in words. The intervention is designed based on key findings from the Beyond Words project and delivered by health care workers (including; social workers, support care workers, nurses, doctors, educators, clinical psychologists and speech therapists).
There will be a 20 minute presentation about the Beyond Words project and key findings that can be used across disciplines. Music leaders from Plymouth Music Zone will conduct a 60 minute interactive music intervention tailored to health care workers to explore the use of music to facilitate communication, inclusion and wellbeing for post-verbal people. There will be time for discussion and feedback.
No music experience or background in music is necessary, all welcome!
