Food vouchers for all children eligible for Free School Meals will be made available by Cornwall Council over the Easter holidays.
The Department for Education ceased funding to provide Free School Meal vouchers over school holidays last summer, however Cornwall Council has since utilised funding from its Covid Winter Grant to provide vouchers for all children eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals.
Funding will be allocated to schools to procure and issue these vouchers via their preferred method (to a value of £30 per eligible pupil for the two-week holiday).
Although there will be no further funding available for future school holidays after Easter, the Government has announced an expansion to its Holiday Activities and Food Programme which will cover the whole of England in 2021.
Through this programme delivered by Active Cornwall, who sit within Cornwall Council, free holiday club provision, including healthy food and enriching activities, will be provided to children eligible for benefits-related Free School Meals over the Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays in 2021.
