Due to the continued difficult financial situation, and following on from recent consultations, at a Board meeting on Friday 3 August the Trustees resolved to change the VSF operating model.
Our website and daily news service will continue, as will our strategic representation of the voluntary sector. Our social action pilots in Torpoint, Bodmin and Newquay have proved hugely successful and we will continue to support this work over the coming months, whilst seeking further funding to extend this way of working to other areas, and other themes.
We will be undertaking research into the ‘state of the VCSE sector’ on behalf of Cornwall Council and will be inviting all our members to contribute to an online survey in September. We will be running a number of focus groups which we hope many of you will take part in.
VSF is also working with Volunteer Cornwall and other VCSE partners to develop a new Charitable Incorporated Organisation that will be involved in social prescribing and other health and wellbeing initiatives.
However VSF will no longer employ permanent salaried staff for the foreseeable future. I as Chairman with the support of other Trustees will be more active over the coming months. We will continue to contract Associate staff and will be seeking some new, proactive Trustees. Anybody interested in becoming a Trustee or an Associate should contact me at Richard@cornwallvsf.org.
These are challenging and exciting time for VSF. We remain committed to supporting VCSE organisations and social action in Cornwall.
