There is increasing awareness of the possibility of burnout in the voluntary sector, both in volunteers and paid staff, and we urge everyone who works or volunteers in the VCSE sector to be aware of their colleagues, and take the time to check in with people. It’s easy to ‘hide’ when one is working virtually, but please do speak up if you are experiencing problems. Help is available.
Psychological wellbeing guide
Cornwall Council has produced a short leaflet around ‘Coronavirus and psychological wellbeing’, which is intended for adults, including key workers.
It includes details of how to access NHS mental health services, particularly for those who need crisis support, or are new or expectant parents, or have long term health conditions.
The majority of the guide lists other sources of help, including self-help apps, voluntary organisations which are providing mental health help, and specific resources for people with dementia.
You can download it here.
Silver Cloud is offering free access to their online self-help for those who are experiencing particular difficulties. Please contact Cornwall VSF (firstname.lastname@example.org) for the login details which have been released to allow the voluntary sector to access this resource for Key workers and their families.
Silver Cloud includes programmes to cover Sleep, Stress and Resilience, delivered in video format, that users can access in their own time, on a computer or mobile device.
