National Prisoners’ Families Helpline

The National Prisoners’ Families Helpline has launched a new website, offering support to families who have a loved one in contact with the criminal justice system.

With headings around arrest, going to court, community sentences, prison sentences, release and staying in touch, you can find out what to expect, and check out resources to help families cope.

The freephone helpline is 0808 808 2003, and is open Monday to Friday 9am-8pm, and Saturday & Sunday 10am-3pm.

They are linked also to the National Information Centre on the Children of Offenders, which supports all professionals working with offenders children and their families. There are extensive directories of resources, of services, and of research.

Connecting with people in HMP Exeter

HMP Exeter is trying to improve the opportunities for residents to develop links with community organisations prior to release. If your organisation works in the area, supporting people in contact with the criminal justice system, could you take phone calls directly from prison residents in HMP Exeter who are interested in what your organisation offers for them for release?

If so, for further information, contact the HMP Exeter Voluntary Sector Coordinator MarcEva@edp.org.uk
