Cornwall School for Social Entrepreneurs is due to celebrate the graduation of the second cohort of its students on Friday 11 March.

The Cornwall SSE Fellowship ceremony will take place at Penwith College, in Penzance, with keynote speaker Tom Henderson from emergency disaster charity Shelterbox. Ian Baker from SSE London and Carleen Kelemen, Director of the Convergence Partnership Office for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly, will also be speaking.

The 11 students will be telling their stories including experiences on the SSE programme and the businesses that they have or are in the process of emerging.

Cornwall SSE, managed by Cornwall Development Company, is the seventh SSE to become established in the UK with investment from the ESF (European Social Fund) Convergence Programme co-financed by Jobcentre Plus through the Cornwall Works for Social Enterprise programme and the European Regional Development Fund.

Sally Heard, SSE Development Manager for Cornwall Development Company, said, “This is an opportunity for all our students to celebrate their ambitions and success in graduating. Many of their social enterprises are already attracting customers from Cornwall and further afield.”

Carleen Kelemen said, “Congratulations and good luck to all eleven new social entrepreneurs who now have the chance to contribute to strengthening Cornwall’s economy using their own unique business ideas and experiences.”
