The Flying Angel Centre inside Falmouth Docks is the home of The Mission to Seafarers. It is a place where seafarers of all nationalities can visit to chat with volunteers, contact home, use free wi-fi, enjoy a free hot drink, watch TV, or just sit in the Summerhouse or tranquil gardens surrounding the Centre, or use the Mission Chapel.
As well as welcoming thousands of seafarers from over 80 countries, Falmouth’s Mission has also helped shipwrecked seafarers and those who have been air-lifted due to illness or injury. The crews of both MSC Napoli and MSC Flaminia were cared for in Falmouth (when Napoli ran aground and Flaminia blew up in the English Channel). Many others have been helped off dismasted ships, ships which were sinking and ships on fire. When seafarers are landed either by air or boat, there is no other charity able to undertake their immediate and ongoing care. We visit seafarers in hospital and ensure they have all they need during their recuperation, and help them keep in touch with their families at home.
Falmouth is part of the world-wide Mission family, but is run locally and proud to raise all its own funds locally.
