Cornwall Council, working closely with NHS commissioners and Job Centre Plus, is actively seeking to involve staff, parents, advisory boards and local stakeholders and partners to review both need and current provision, to develop a commissioning strategy for the sustainable future delivery of children’s centres across Cornwall.

The strategy will secure integrated service delivery with community children’s health services, Job Centre Plus and with local voluntary/community sector services and other partners for families with young children. Any new Service design will take account of the county’s deprivation and child poverty profile and respond to the challenges of delivering inclusive services to rurally isolated communities. Evidence of the positive impact of Cornwall-based initiatives and models of delivery will be an important influence on the design of a service that will deliver for Cornwall.

Cornwall is setting up four provider days across Cornwall for those organisations who may be interested in potentially delivering children’s centre services to be held on the following dates:

  • Monday 13th February 2012 – 9.30 to 4.30 p.m. – Venue: Berlewen Building, Pool, near Redruth
  • Thursday 16th February 2012 – 9.30 to 4.30 p.m. – Venue: Chacewater Village Hall, Chacewater, Nr. Truro
