Local Trust is holding an online event on 20 October, from 12-1.30pm called “Towards resilience: redesigning our systems for a better future”.
This will look at what a resilient Britain could look like, exploring how we can learn from the weaknesses exposed by COVID-19.
Following on from our recent report, Towards Resilience, we will be looking at the lack of national resilience highlighted by the pandemic and what might be needed to move towards resilience in the future.
In contrast, there were and continue to be many robust community responses in neighbourhoods across the country – with each of them reliant on the resources, skills and knowledge of local people.
We want this discussion to be the start of a wider conversation across numerous sectors and disciplines to better understand how this type of community action could help to create a much more resilient Britain.
Join us for this discussion as we start to explore this concept of resilience more deeply. We welcome as many different perspectives, ideas and contributions as possible as we move #TowardsResilience.
Our panel includes:
- Councillor Judith Blake, leader of Leeds City Council
- Jo Gideon MP for Stoke-on-Trent Central
- Rachael Orr, Director of PlaceShapers
- Josie Warden, associate director in the design and innovation team, Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures and Commerce.
The event will be held via Zoom and joining instructions will be sent to attendees beforehand.
