Cornwall Council’s Children and Family Services and Our Safeguarding Children Partnership are running training courses in February and April to create a core group of advanced practitioners working with Signs of Safety, their core multi-agency approach to child protection.
Signs if Safety is a different approach to working with children and families, and includes their own networks to improve outcomes for the children. Signs of Safety can be used in direct work with children and young people in group settings and on a 1:1 basis, in work with parents and carers, as a way of strengthening professional supervision and management oversight, as an approach to managing and leading teams and organisations, and in helping set and achieve the strategic priorities that really count for children.
An Advanced Practitioner course will run from 16-20 April, to develop a core group of advanced practitioners within the system to model good and outstanding Signs of Safety practice and to act as practice leaders in their teams and agencies.
Up to 60 participants on the course will learn more about the application and use of the programme.
In order to attend the 5-day course, participants must have attended the 2-day basic training course. The last opportunity to undertake this basic training before the 5-day course is on 27 and 28 February 2018.
Participants will be expected to make a commitment to sharing their learning with colleagues and being part of learning and development activity over the coming year as we take the next steps in embedding Signs of Safety as a core approach. This should include attending a programme of Signs of Safety practice leader development workshops, which will require a time commitment of half a day every 2 months from June 2018. The intention is to develop, in time, a pool of accredited in-house Signs of Safety trainers to deliver the 2 day basic training and completion of the 5 day advanced training and if you are interested in this attending the advanced training is an important first step towards this.
The available places are likely to be in significant demand. If you would like to take part, or you have any questions, please contact Ben Davis on firstname.lastname@example.org
