Employing people with a learning disability

Wednesday 19 June, 10am-1pm, Kehelland Trust, Camborne.

This event, organised by Experts Grow, will show you how a diverse workforce can bring vital skills and passion to your business.

People with disabilities are more than twice as likely to be unemployed than people without disabilities. However, research shows that there are clear benefits to employing people with disabilities, from providing specific additional skills to helping create a more positive, motivated workforce.

At the Cornwall Food Foundation, we’re committed to working with local food and drink businesses to ensure they have the skilled workforce they need to innovate and make the most of growth opportunities. So, we’ve organised this event as part of our Experts Grow programme to help businesses tackle the barriers to employing people with disabilities and show them how to make the most of a diverse workforce.

The Beacon Project will be providing advice on recruitment. United Response and Employability Cornwall will explain how they can support employers to adjust their workplace to make it disability-friendly, while the Kehelland Trust will be able to share their experience of employing people with disabilities.

We’ll also show you how Experts Grow can help to create placements and jobs for people with different abilities, using a voucher scheme to contribute to your staff time.

Experts Grow is brought to you by the Cornwall Food Foundation. It is part-funded by the European Social Fund and part of the Developing Skills for Business Programme. Find out more about Experts Grow and how it can help your business to flourish online.
