Cornwall Housing have been awarded ESF funding to run courses throughout the county for tenants (of any kind, private, social, etc), aged 16-64 years that are currently out of paid work.
The next course will start in January in Truro area. It’s a 6 week course, running every Thursday from 4th January, from 9:30am to 2:30pm. It will help people to get on top of their personal finances, looking at debt, budgeting, managing money, etc, and also preparing people for Universal Credit.
Completion of the full 6 weeks also give 1 unit towards a money management qualification.
The Job Centre will also allow the hours spent on the course to be claimed towards their claimant commitment.
We can also provide childcare for people who require it and cover transport costs, and will provide breakfast and lunch on the days of the course.
Participants will also receive 1-1 support throughout the course, to ensure they’re working towards the aims they set for themselves.
There is also a further 6 week course that participants can attend, around getting back into employment, if they wish to continue. This would be a second unit towards a money management qualification.
Given the current situation around the Corona virus, please check with individual organisers regarding events listed in these pages, to ensure that they are going ahead, before you travel.
Also, please bear in mind the advice not to attend if you feel unwell, or have a temperature, or have been in contact with anyone with the virus.
