A charity which rescues and rehabilitates retired racehorses is looking for a new home. The charity is currently based near Redruth, but has been given two months’ notice on the current property, stables and land. The charity is Racehorse Relief, and is currently working with 20 horses. They work to rehabilitate, retrain and rehome racehorses, often tackling physical and behavioural problems that might prove too taxing for a regular horse-owner. However, once the charity has worked with the horses, they make wonderful riding horses, and often live for 10-20 years following their racing careers.
Jo Massey, the charity’s founder, is appealing for anyone who has land that might be appropriate to come forward. The charity does not have the funds to pay the market rate, but is hopeful that someone would be able to lease or donate land at a reduced rate, to support the work of the charity.
Jo is happy to work with the landowner to improve facilities, should that be required.
