Digital Peninsula Network is a partner in Interreg project PONToon, (Partnership Opportunities using New Technologies fostering sOcial and ecOnomic inclusion) www.pontoonproject.eu
The project focuses on up-skilling women in order to support their employment opportunities, via a mixture of digital technologies and creative industries, primarily with the development of a digital games ‘toolkit’.
PONToon will employ digital technologies in order to provide equal access to training and employment services and respond to the digital skills shortage that exist across all sectors.
We are looking to target socially excluded women who are disadvantaged by their gender, have challenges such as lone parenthood, mental/physical health issues and restricted mobility, these are often combined with a lack of key soft skills that could benefit from digital upskilling.
The project centres on community development, social and economic inclusion, and equality and aims to produce a methodology that can be rolled out in the future to a broader demographic and geographical region for continuing impact via job centres, employment support agencies etc.
The Faculty of Creative and Cultural Industries, University of Portsmouth, is lead partner in this three-and-a-half-year project with 11 UK and French partners.
PONToon will bring together beneficiaries, stakeholders and experts to co-design a digital toolbox of innovative interventions in order to provide equal access to training and employment services, as well as developing a business plan and implementation programme to ensure a sustainable and transferable legacy.
