Staff and patients have been asked for their views on proposals to help the NHS deliver Its long term plan for England and Wales. This plan was published on 7 January 2019, and sets out how health and care services across England will work together over the next decade to ensure everyone has the best possible start in life, improve care for major physical and mental health conditions, and support people to age well.

The NHS launched a call for views on how targeted amendments to the law could help local and national health organisations work together more effectively to improve services for patients.  The link will take you to the PDF document which explains the proposals included in the plan, together with a link to a survey to share your thoughts on the proposals.

Alternative formats are available on request.

The proposals fall under these headings:

  • Promoting collaboration
  • Getting better value for the NHS
  • Increasing the flexibility of national NHS payment systems
  • Integrating care provision
  • Managing the NHS’s resources better
  • Every part of the NHS working together
  • Every part of the NHS working together
  • Planning our services together
  • Joined-up national leadership
