Cornwall Council has been sending messages to town and parish Councils recently regarding their community governance review. If you represent a town or parish council, you should already be aware of this, but if your’e not, you may be interested, and may even need to take action.
Community Governance Review
Cornwall Council is undertaking a Community Governance Review for the whole of Cornwall, considering parish boundaries, ward arrangements and names, and the number of seats.
- The leaflet provides an introduction to the purpose and process of the Community Governance Review. It is designed to be of use throughout the review process and summarises information already available on the Cornwall Council website and signposts people to that site for further information.
- The information leaflet can be circulated to residents as a digital document. A limited number of hard copies are available and can be requested by contacting CGRs@cornwall.gov.uk.
- The posters are available for you to print and use on notice boards as appropriate to promote the review to local residents. One version of the poster includes a blank ‘text box’ that you can use to add locally relevant information, ie to promote a local meeting to discuss the review, local council contact for more information about the review etc.
If your Council has not yet responded, we strongly recommend that they make a formal submission by 17 July 2019.
In addition, the Council is asking for views on their Climate Change proposals:
Have your say on Climate Change policy in Cornwall
Cornwall Council’s survey on climate change closes on Monday, so make sure you have your say.
Since Cornwall Council declared a climate change emergency for Cornwall, it is working on a plan to help Cornwall become carbon neutral by 2030. Council leaders are asking for input to help generate ideas to help this process. Your priorities, your views on the initial proposals, and what action you currently take and are prepared to take are all sought here.
Visit Cornwall Council’s website for more information about carbon neutral Cornwall and to complete our survey, as well as finding out more about climate change and carbon neutral Cornwall.
If you have any questions or would like further information please email the Climate Change team on firstname.lastname@example.org
The survey closes on 15 July.
Have your say on Adult Advocacy Services
Cornwall Council also has a survey open regarding its Adult Advocacy services.
Advocacy services help people to speak up for themselves and get their voice heard. People are invited to share their views about adult advocacy services in Cornwall and how the Council can make them better? For more information and to complete the survey please go to cornwall.gov.uk/advocacyadults.
The contracts that Adult Social Care has in place will come to an end in 2020 so the council is seeking the views of those who use, or might use, the service, to help direct the new contract.
An easy read, printable version can be downloaded jhere: Advocacy questionnaire_Easy read_Web.
Please could you also encourage and help people who you support to complete it. Printed copies can be requested by contacting email@example.com.
The closing date for the survey is Sunday 11 August 2019.
