The Team at Pathfinder Cornwall are hosting a launch event for the capacity building grant. This will be on 12 December, between 9.30am and 12.30pm, at St Austell Conference Centre.
What is Pathfinder
The Pathfinder scheme has been live from the end of June this year. It currently has over 100 live cases of individuals that would have received a caution or PND (Penalty Notice for Disorder) that have opted for Pathfinder as an alternative. Pathfinder Keyworkers cover the whole of Devon and Cornwall out in the community, engaging first time or low level offenders in a 4 month contract to address their underlying needs and support them not to slide further into the criminal justice system. They work on the basis of a holistic needs assessments and in a non-judgemental way to build relationships that are about positive change. An element of the contract is about engaging in activities and community work but these are about empowerment of the individual. If someone fulfils their agreed contract (that they have co designed) then they will not receive the conviction (the caution or fine).
Capacity building small grants
As the scheme was new, and the range of needs for low level offenders that would be coming on to the scheme was unclear, it was decided to hold a small amount of funding back until we could assess what it was that Pathfinder would need within a local area to support the individuals, keyworkers and development of the scheme as a whole. Pathfinder are now in a position to inform you of this opportunity.
