Members of Cornwall Voluntary Sector forum should have been contacted over the last few weeks with regard to a Membership Audit that we are carrying out.  Our contact lists were out of date, including people who no longer work for our Members, and indeed organisations which no longer exist, hence we felt the need for a significant tidying exercise.

Updating organisations’ pages on our site

As part of this, we have taken down all the Organisation pages on our website, which you can normally use to find local services provided by our members.  Many of these pages had limited information on them, and in some cases, nothing at all beyond the organisation’s name! We have been asking all the Members we contact to provide us with more information about their services, plus the different means to contact them, so that their full details can appear on our site.  The reason for this is two-fold:

  • People searching on our site for information about a service to meet their particular needs will be able to tell quickly whether an organisation is what they’re looking for, if full information is provided – and be able to contact them
  • People searching the wider internet may well stumble across our page about an organisation before they find the organisation’s own web page, simply because we are a bigger web presence and rank higher in Google.  Therefore having full details on our site will encourage people to visit the organisation’s own site, if that is what a person is looking for.

If you think your page may be out of date, even if we’ve not contacted you, you are welcome to send us the information we need to fill it.  The easiest way to do this is to use the form on our website, by following this link, which will take you to the page for new members to join us.  Once you start to fill in the form, you will find a check box that asks whether you’re taking part in the Membership Audit.  If you tick this, we will know not to create you a new page, but update your existing one.

If your organisation has not been contacted, or you’re not sure, then please do email us to check, and confirm your preferred email address.

Phase 2 coming soon

We have almost finished contacting Members, and Phase 2 is going to be updating all the Organisation pages with the new details that they have supplied.

Please also let us know if you do not wish to be a Member any more.

Membership is free, and you can still receive the newsletter whether you are a Member or not.
