THE VCS COMMISSIONING BOARD

The Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) Commissioning Board gives the voluntary sector an opportunity to meet regularly with key Cornwall Council directors and commissioners, enabling the sector to advise on the design of public services in Cornwall.

The voluntary sector is represented on the board by ten ‘theme leads’, who are specialists in areas such as Environment, Community Development and Public Health.  Click on the menu on the right to read about the Themes most relevant to your organisation.

Lescudjack Centre seeks partner organisation

The Trustees of the Lescudjack Centre Penzance are calling for other charities and social enterprises to submit expressions of interest in a partnership for long-term collaboration (3-5 years) or merger.  They are looking for a partner organisation who could help:

  • Fundraise
  • Strengthen and develop their programme of community activities
  • Assist with managing the centre building.

The Lescudjack Centre is a spacious, well maintained building by Treneere estate in Penzance, with a ten year track record.  It offers a wide range of services and includes a variety of current community serving tenants. Advisory Board Consultation Presentation – This deal with the proposed commissioning of Children’s Centres in Cornwall, which was a major item at the meeting. Dates for the provider days and consultation sessions are contained within at slide 24.

The date of the next meeting of the Theme Group is Wednesday 23 March 2012, at Volunteer Cornwall, Acorn House, Heron Way, Newham in Truro from 2.00pm – 4.00 p.m.

Cornwall Council publish Equalities information

Following the introduction of the new Public Sector Equality Duty part of the Equality Act (2010), Cornwall Council and organisations carrying out services on their behalf are legally obliged to publish information about its employees and those affected by the Council’s policies and practices (customers or service users for example) by 31 January 2012.

Cornwall Council have been carrying out Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs) on all policy decisions, projects and other proposals – these are public documents and can be found here.
