Cornwall Women’s Fund is now open for grant applications. The fund aims to support community projects where women and girls will be the main beneficiaries.
Applications are welcome from organisations working on projects that inspire ambition and enable achievement
Examples of possible projects:
- To run a once weekly Mums and Babies group (also open to anyone who is pregnant), themed each week to guide conversation, from feeding and sleeping, to weaning and playing with your baby. The group will also support new parents ensuring that their needs and self-care are met through practical ways of thinking about themselves and their importance to their families.
- To bring the women in the local community together to ensure migrant women aren’t isolated or disadvantaged by not being able to fully communicate their needs or wants. The project will deliver outreach sessions, activities such as arts and crafts, social forestry and interspersed with situational role play e.g. going to the doctors, dentist, school, bank etc. These sessions will be supported by native English volunteers and attended by local key local contracts such as GP receptionists, PCSOs etc.
- To run weekly after school sessions focused on girls aged 12 – 16 and who have been identified as having low self-esteem and confidence. The project will deliver a varied and exciting programme which will be designed with the help of the group.
Amounts awarded are at the discretion of the grant awarding panel. For guidance, the average grant award is £1,000.
The first deadline is on the 28 April 2020, with application being reviewed on 19 May 2020.
